About Helly Hansen

Helly Hansen was founded in Moss, Norway, in 1877 by sea captain Helly Juell Hansen. With his wife Maren Margarethe, he began making water-resistant clothing from coarse linen soaked in linseed oil for sailors and fishermen. The company went on to become one of the best-known names in technical outerwear and professional workwear.
